One of the clubs aims is to make all existing and new facilities as sustainable as possible by introducing such renewable / sustainable options as solar water heating, rainwater harvesting, LED lighting, Ground Source Heating etc.
The overall aim of the Uddingston community Sports club is to free up the use of local existing facilities while trying to improve them for the local community so they are being used fully rather than only at peak times such as weekends and nights (9am to 10pm / Monday to Sunday).
To this end Uddingston Cricket and Sports Club, Uddingston Sports HUB (based at Uddingston Grammar) and Hamilton College are currently working together to push forward with providing improved facilities and access for the local community plus all local Primary and Secondary schools.
Uddingston Community Sports Club is an existing sports club that currently has four sports based at its grounds (Uddingston Cricket and Sports Club).
These include Cricket, Rugby, Hockey and Harriers.
At this time these grounds are know to British Gas as staff from their Uddingston Contact centre, which is around 500 yards away utilise this facility for sports and socialising.
Our development has been set up to look at improving the existing facilities via either upgrading what is currently in place or adding to them.
The existing facilities include a Clubhouse, Cricket Field, Senior Rugby park and Junior Rugby park.
Below is image of the planned new Changing / Community Block that would house such sustainability options as Solar Panels, Rainwater Harvesting, LED lighting etc.
The planned upgrades includes a new astro turf hockey park, a new grass rugby park, a new changing / community building and general upgrades to the existing clubhouse and grounds.
