About this group
Transition Omagh is part of the global Transition Network http://www.transitionnetwork.org/ which aims to helps communities deal with climate change and shrinking supplies of cheap energy (peak oil). This process will also create stronger, happier communities.
Achieving community resilience and sustainability is therefore the key objective.
In Transition Omagh, we are currently running 'sub' groups to deal with energy, food, politics and transport, etc. We are not limited geographically but find it convenient to concentrate on the Omagh District Council area. Our website is at http://www.transitionomagh.org/
The groups within TO are influenced and inspired in many different ways and hold regular meetings and events to help raise awareness. Currently, we are experiencing a marked increase in interest from people throughout the region.
Our Transition Omagh Energy group is therefore part of the bigger Transition 'picture' and hope to achieve our own aims of creating and implementing a preliminary 'Energy Descent Action Plan' which can then be tailored to roll out to the wider community and beyond.
