About this group
We want to secure funding from energyshare so we can set up a project to save energy and cut household heating bills in our community. Energy prices keep spiralling up, and the cost of keeping warm is becoming unaffordable for many of us...
Much of the housing stock in the Moss Side / Fallowfield area of Manchester is made up of Victorian terraces. These houses tend to have solid rather than cavity walls, and a lot of heat is lost through these walls. This particularly affects end terrace homes as there is no adjoining property on one side to retain the heat, and heat just drains away. Unlike modern houses, cavity wall insulation is not an option.
We hope to be able to provide assistance for as many local people as possible, who live in Victorian end terrace houses to install internal insulation in the gable end wall - this is a very effective measure and will make a huge difference. We hope to be able to supply technical consultation and specifications, materials, and help towards the cost of professional labour.
Another harsh Winter may soon be upon us and fuel costs are rising yet again - hitting those who can least afford it the hardest. Particularly vulnerable in the plummeting temperatures are families with young children, the elderly and the less able. Insulating our homes efficiently will reduce fuel consumption and cut the cost of keeping our homes and families warm.
If you think this is a worthy cause then please support our bid!
