About this group
What is the Customs House and myplace?
Middlesbrough’s Custom House is being transformed into myplace , a state-of-the-art youth centre costing £4.3m. Myplace is a multi-million pound national Government programme to create world class youth facilities across the country and is being delivered by the Big Lottery Fund.
Facilities at myplace will include a performance and dance hall, chill out space, media studio, library, music facilities, gym, climbing wall and a training kitchen and café.
There will also be advice and guidance services on education, employment and training, pregnancy, sexual health and drug and alcohol misuse.
Why do we want Energy Share funding?
Middlesbrough Environment City, a local charity in the town that promotes healthy and sustainable lifestyles, is working with the Customs House to put together a proposal to install solar panels on the new roof. The panels would play a vital role in providing renewable energy to the centre and demonstrate the Customs House commitment to tackling climate change.
