About this group
The High Barnet Green Home Zone is an independent, not-for-profit social enterprise, focussed on environmental awareness and energy saving, run by local volunteer residents for local residents. We are not preachy, or ‘alternative types’ but local people, just like you, who think we could each live a little more sustainably.
The High Barnet Green Home Zone encompasses all the streets behind The Spires, and the Meadway and roads of it – some 2,250 homes. With the support of Barnet Council, the Energy Saving Trust and sponsored by WTG Commercial, we are dedicated to lessening the neighbourhood’s carbon footprint whilst engaging residents in sound environmental practices.
We provide home energy and environmental awareness advice and assessment in the comfort of your own home. If you'd like a FREE 30-minute home energy check that will help you save money - as much as £200 a year - energy and reduce your CO2 emissions, simply contact us at info@greenhomezone.com
We welcome volunteers to assist us in our work. if you have any time to spare, even a couple of hours a month - we'd appreciate your input. Jobs that need undertaking include leafleting, and helping out at events in the local community where the HBGHZ has a presence. If you have energy or environemental auditing and advice experience, we'd be delighted of your help to undertake home energy checks.
We are happy to work with schools (we have assisted Christ Church Primary School in their energy and environmental initiatives) business and church groups, although we are not a faith (or politically) aligned group. We have recently energy audited Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church in High Barnet. We are in talks with FOBCC regarding the poposed sustainable construction of a new building on the site.
As a not-for-profit (registered CIC) volunteer social enterprise we welcome donations and are open to discussing sponsorship opportunites with businesses.
