About this group
We have successfully helped local people cut costs, energy and carbon emissions for the last three years. Now please help us win £100,000 to save even more energy in our own town.
In our first year local people pledged to save 213 tons of carbon annually- a great achievement, thanks to our public group meeting where over 120 residents chose 10 top challenges.
Two years ago we set up a sub group to help us all save on our household fuel bills. Our trained volunteers provide free home energy surveys, in your home, at your request. They send a detailed and confidential form about your home to our technical office, who sends back a report listing all the ways to save energy- all completely optional; plus a list of contacts if you want further information or products. It also includes a carbon footprint and you can compare how you are doing with others nationally, if you wish. We are not commercial so absolutely no sales pressure.
We have also run a great Home Energy Day, with exhibits and talks last autumn. The hall was buzzing with ideas, demos of wood pellets and loads of fascinating products to examine. In the Spring we followed it up with an Open Green House Day- nine local householders were persuaded to open their doors for the rest of us to see how their energy-saving attempts were going. Most popular were the woodburing stoves and solar panels- lots of lovely warmth and Feed-in Tariffs; a sure win.
Question
Do you think we, as a group, could usefuly use £100,000 to save more energy in Alton and Holybourne? It could be on insulation or renewable energy generation ( ie solar panels etc) in public buildings or people's homes.
If you think 'yes' please sign up as a supporter.
Meanwhile, we'll organise town events to get everyone's views before making any plans.
Many thanks
