About this group
The village of Elham is in the centre of a beautiful chalkland valley and has many historical and charming buildings. It attracts visitors; walkers, naturalists, historians, and other tourists from far and wide including the Continent of Europe via the nearby Channel Tunnel and the port of Dover.
We are a non political voluntary group wishing to play our part in helping to conserve our planet through raising awareness and local action. Our aim is to reduce local carbon emissions in homes, businesses, farms and transport. We are developing tools for research to find out what can be done and to find reliable advice and resources.
We aim to create a more sustainable community by placing a series of Solar PV panels on the roofs of several community buildings. This will create free electricity for the community resource, and also create a source of income for the community groups, this in turn helps with bills and running costs. This project will also help educate the community about the value of Solar PV technology and encourage them to take an active interest in renewable energy.
