About this group
Club Double 6 is a youth club and community centre operating from an established building on Scarsdale Road in Woodseats Sheffield. The Club was established in 1966 (hence the name) and was originally a Boys’ club. Over the years, the club has developed into a general youth club, open to all young people aged 10 upwards. The youth club currently opens on Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. The club facilities are available for other community groups and activities including use on Saturdays for young people with learning difficulties. We have secured funding to support our staff and activities costs but the building fabric and internal fit out is in a state of disrepair, and in need of modernisation. The heating system is outdated and inefficient, the building fabric has no recognisable insulation value with old fashioned (pre war) windows and doors Our aim is to secure funding not only to repair, upgrade and modernise the building but to use sustainable materials / building methods and have high levels of insulation and draftproofing.
Central to our aim for an energy efficient building is to utilise renewable energy where we can.
From the picture it can be seen there is great potential for Solar / PV panels on the (rear) south facing pitched roof and flat roof areas.
We have obtained estimates for insulating the roof and walls and replacing the doors and windows. We have received estimates from local companies specialising in the provision and installation of solar / PV panels.
