About this group
Cooking Oil Recycling Programme is a not-for-profit social enterprise with the aim of encouraging communities to recycle their used cooking oil responsibly.
We offer a free and incentivised used cooking oil collection service to schools, community & voluntary organisations and commercial businesses so that we can fulfil the objectives of:
-
helping communities defer from landfill sites
-
creating renewable energy from waste cooking oil
-
creating biofuels to reduce vehicle carbon emissions
The outcomes of our project includes:
-
boosting rural businesses by offering the biofuels for sale in village stores for shoppers to buy whilst purchasing other items
-
offer local employment opportunities
-
help customers save money by offering a cheaper alternative to home heating oil and road diesel (by up to 20%)
At the moment if you are a commercial producer of used cooking oil you have the option of getting rid of it through a commercial waste collector. For domestic households there isn't such option. We are now starting a campaign to encourage domestic households to donate their used cooking oil through schools, community and voluntary organisations such as community centres and Churches in order for us recycle used cooking oil into renewable energy.
